Did you know that Newcastle Council and Port Stephens Council jointly own the Newcastle Airport?
The Airport board have purchased land adjacent to the terminal, and developed this area as a defence precinct. It's called Astra Aerolab.
This precinct has already absorbed the existing BAE facility which maintains the F-35 fighter jets.
Recently, the biggest missile manufacturing facility in the country has been approved for development and more approvals are in the pipeline.
