Astra Aerolab Online Information Briefing

🚨Join us online for all the facts on Astra Aerolab🚨

Did you know that Newcastle Council and Port Stephens Council jointly own the Newcastle Airport?

The Airport board purchased land adjacent to the terminal, and developed this area as a defence precinct.

It's called Astra Aerolab.

This precinct has already absorbed the existing BAE facility which maintains the F-35 fighter jets.

Recently, the biggest missile manufacturing facility in the country has been approved for development and more approvals are in the pipeline.

Join us for an urgent ONLINE information session to understand what Astra Aerolab is and why it matters to Newcastle and Port Stephens ratepayers.

I'll email the zoom link on the afternoon of Thursday 19th June to everyone who has registered, a few hours before our information session begins.

Newcastle Council is surveying the community asking whether you support Council receiving profits from Astra Aerolab.

Consultation is open from the 3rd until the 25th of June. Have your say here

This Information Session will shed light on:

  • The current and future developments at the Astra Aerolab precinct.

  • How profits from weapons manufacturers will be collected by the City of Newcastle.
  • How defence contracts are shaping our local economy—and our future.

  • What Greens and community groups are doing about militarisation in our region.
